Charlie Battin
Charlie is one of a growing number of downhill riders who are attending Saturday morning sessions at Ashton Court with us.
He attended our very first session and since then has grown in both size and confidence and is becoming a force to be reckoned with over Cross Country, but also his favoured downhill disciplines.
We asked him to let us know a little bit about himself…
‘My name is Charlie Battin and i am 12 years old. I learnt to ride at 3 and always loved it ever since. My current bike is a KONA COILER 06. My disciplines are Cross Country, Freeride and Downhill, but my favourite is definitely Downhill. My favourite riding places of all time are Still Woods in Long Ashton and the Downhill trails at Forest of Dean and Cwmcarn. I go to the club run organised by Marc on Saturday mornings which is great fun and has got me and my mates a lot fitter’
Charlie has recently discovered the realities of life as a Downhill rider, having his first pretty major crash, however this hasn’t stopped him and he is now back on his bike, searching out the biggest and baddest trails he can find. Watch out for Charlie in the future as he tries to emulate his team mate Rich Thomas by riding Downhill for Great Britain.
