The South West’s premier football tournament!
What is Beach Football?
Beach Football is seriously fun, and seriously tough! Played between two teams of 5 players, on the sand, on shortened pitches, games last 7 mins each way and have unlimited rolling subs from squads of up to 10 players. The game is designed to be fun, so less rules than the normal game, no throw in’s, no offside’s, no stoppage time…1min break for half time. This is designed to be fast, fun and skillful.
How does it work?
Squads of up to 10 players are permitted, and must be submitted at the start of the tournament. Each team will be in a Champions League style group format, with 4 teams in each group, with the winners of each group going through to the next round. There will be a semi final and a final and the winners will be awarded the Weston-super-Mare Beach Football Trophy to keep for the year.
The tournament is designed to be fast, fun and furious, with limited downtime. Once the action starts you will need to be switched on, a hooter will signify the start of each game, half and full time, Once the game starts you will have unlimited substitutions, with 4 outfield players and one goalkeeper required at all times. The game will not stop for subs, you will need to leave the field before your replacement can come on. Each game lasts for 7 mins each way, with a 1 min break at half time to change ends and grab a drink.
Where is the tournament?
The tournament will be held on the beach at Weston-super-Mare. There will be a number of pitches laid out, along with plenty of room for you to set up your camp. There is ample parking on the Sea Front right next to the arena, as well as a beach hut selling drinks, snacks and essential beach items. Toilets are nearby. We want you to bring your friends and family and make a real day out of the event so bring along a gazebo, some seats and blankets and set up for the day. W-s-M High Street is a 5 minute walk from the arena so families can head off to town if they need to escape from the action for an hour or so.
What do we need to do now?
The Weston-super-Mare Beach Football tournament will take place on Sat 7th August, with opportunities for a celebratory drink afterwards at the presentation party.
Entry costs £70 per team (squads of up to 10.)
