Sole Events coach Rich Thomas has taken his first national title, winning the BUSA Student Downhill Mountain Biking championships on Saturday.
Following his great start to the season in which he has now started racing in the Elite category, Rich smashed the opposition winning by over a second from his nearest rival in 1min 23.70secs.
We at Sole towers are really proud of Rich’s achievements, he works hard, trains hard and is a fantastic coach and role model to the young people he works with.
Rich is currently working at after schools clubs across North Somerset as well as helping out at various other cycle projects we are running. He is gearing up for a long season of racing, but we are currently putting together plans for a series of downhill workshops later in 2009, so if you are a budding downhill rider who wants some tips from a national champion, keep your eyes peeled for the dates coming up soon.
A detailed report of the event can be found on British Cycling’s website, follow the link here
Well done again Rich!
