10 Hour Mountainbike
Marc and Kit, along with 2 friends took part in the 10 hour Cheddar Bikefest on Sat.
For those unfamiliar with the format, basically teams of 4 have to race around a short course (around 16-18 minutes in length) and complete as many laps as they can in 10 hours.
Starting at 10am and finishing at 8pm (in the dark) Team Jess (the team the guys were racing for) managed a highly respectable 4th place overall, this despite being down to 3 members for most of the day.
The course was difficult with lots of climbing and lots of technical singletrack, including a tough downhill section to finish, but except for a couple of cuts and bruises the team seem to have escaped with no injuries.
The race was well organised and we would recommend the event to anyone, whatever their fitness level, as the other competitors are (mostly) relaxed and happy to chat, and there are racers of all levels ploughing their way around the course.
If you are really mad you can even attempt to do the distance as a solo rider!!
The next race for the guys is the Coed Y Brenin off road duathlon in Oct
